Christmas Ads 2013

Hello!

Here is an interesting fact about me, I am kinda obsessed with the wonderful world of advertising. I. Love. Adverts. I love to watch and analyse them, find out others opinions, how they where made, why they where made... basically a good, original advert is shown and I'm hooked... that doesn't mean I'd actually think about buying the product it is trying to sell... I just love the creativity behind it all.

Recently in the advertising world, Christmas ads 2013 are a hot topic. I remember being in school and everyone would get giddy and excited, updating there MSN statuses in joy when the classic 'Holidays are coming...' ad was shown for the first time that year.

Since then, most retailers have jumped on the seasonal advertising band wagon, and in more recent years it has been the John Lewis advert that has been eagerly awaited (who else can no longer stand that song?!). My first glimpse of the Bare and Hare advert this year filled me with emotion and I loved it, behind the scenes of the ad is even more impressive, which you can watch below.

My favourite Christmas ad of 2013 has to be M&S,  it's perfectly filled with all the Celeb endorsement necessary, sparkles, Alice in wonderland themed and just dam festive.

I'm also quite won over by Harvey Nichols attempt, 'Sorry, I spent it on myself' quite a funny one, and you can actually buy this range in store! Fantastic marketing effort for this, very impressed.

So there's the low down from me, I am much less impressed with the Boots effort, not massively feeling there Christmas chav spreading joy to fit girls and old teachers theme. Anyway that's just an opinion, which probably isn't too justified.

That's all folks!

Touristing

So like I say, I am new to Bristol and I don't know the city too well, why did I move here I hear you ask? Well, good question, not too sure of the answer really..other than the fact this city really is rather pretty. Also rumoured to be the happiest city in the UK.. good enough reasons? Hmm..  I came here for a few interviews before landing my job at EMO Advertising and Marketing , but I had never been here before that, Nick had somehow convinced me Bristol was the place for us so I kind of went with it.

Anyway here we are, and as much as I hate to say it, Nick was right! I love this place, the view from our apartment is amazing, we are a stones throw from the canal, we can just about make out the Clifton suspension bridge and we have a great view of the multi-coloured houses up on the hill. Oh and my walk to work is quite beautiful.

To make things even better, it is nearly Christmas, so a few weeks ago we headed down to Cabot Circus to see Cinderella turn the Christmas lights on and look around the German Christmas Market, this well and truly got me in the Christmas spirit. I cannot wait to spend this years festivities with my family, we were in Australia last year so kind of missed it, Christmas in the sun is just not natural.

Last weekend, my Mum came down to visit, which was super fun, we just walked all day taking in the sites. We went in to the Cathedral which is fascinating, so big. Then took a walk up Park street where we saw some genuine Banksy, and had a snoop in the cute little boutique stores up there.

We somehow ended up in Clifton (Like I say, I am still exploring), so we took a walk along the suspension bridge. Unfortunately it wasn't the best day so the views weren't exactly incredible, oh and it was freezing.

The cafe's in Clifton where absolutely rammed at that time on a Saturday afternoon so it took us a while to find a place for lunch. Luckily we found this little gem, The Rainbow Cafe  which perfectly suited our needs, I went for the cream tea, delicious!

That's all for now...

Peace and Love

Well this is new...

Hello there,

Ahh where to begin! I've been wanting to start a new blog for a while now, I've had a travelling blog for the past 16 months which you can view here  but then travelling ended... as did the blog.

I returned from my overseas adventures in July 2013, fast forward 4 months and here I am, living and working in Bristol with my lovely Boyfriend Nick.

Since being back in the UK, life has been a bit of a whirl wind, moving to Bristol wasn't the easiest move, we were living in a hotel for over a month whilst waiting to move in to our home. We did stay in the very lovely Rodney Hotel up in Clifton though which wasn't exactly roughing it. We are happily settled in our home now and it was well worth the wait, check out our fireplace!

After
So why have I decided to start a blog? Well, we have moved to Bristol not knowing many people or really knowing the city, so I am still exploring and I find it a shame not to write about this beautiful place.

I'm also going to start putting my creative thoughts in to actual projects... which should be interesting. Plus I like to bake.. so expect a few experimental recipes up here.

But for now I'll leave it at that!

Peace and Love.
